Mr. Gordon joined Job Link in August of 2010 and has already helped placed more than 100 people in full or part-time positions, despite the difficult economy.
A veteran recruiter and career consultant with more than two decades of
experience, Mr. Gordon is no stranger to the challenges job seekers face. And
he concedes that “the market is tough and companies are being much more particular.” But this is where Mr. Gordon – and Job Link – comes in.
One Job Link candidate recently lost his job because he had a medical
procedure which limited his ability to lift heavy things. He was unable to pay his
rent and was facing eviction. Mr. Gordon assessed the man’s skills and recognized
he had much to offer. He contacted a business owner who needed a manager, and prepared the candidate. The candidate got the job within a matter of days.
Then there was a college student who needed a part-time job in order to
stay in school. Mr. Gordon helped ease her entry into the workforce by pinpointing
her strong points and preparing her for interviews. Within a week, she landed an
executive assistant position for a highly regarded company, which will promote
her career.
And then there was the writer who had lost a consulting position he had
held for many years. He was on a longtime job search that was leading nowhere.
Mr. Gordon called a contact he had at a marketing firm, arranged an interview,
and now the candidate is getting projects from that company on a periodic
basis. Most importantly, says Mr. Gordon, the job has restored the writer’s
confidence, and it has motivated him to revitalize his consulting business.
